Here’s What You Missed at OHECC 2022
The Avaap Higher Education team was thrilled to be back at the Ohio Higher Education Computing Council (OHECC) Annual Conference this year! After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, it was great to see Ohio higher education leaders in person again. This year’s conference focused on transforming for the future, with the use of technology on campus and the impact it has on student success dominating discussions.
Higher education leaders across the nation are interested in digitally transforming their institutions, and Ohio is leading the way. According to the Tambellini Group, transformation is expected to increase by more than 200 percent over the next five years. Institutions are prioritizing modernization to keep up with the rapidly changing higher education landscape and student expectations. Discussions included automation as part of digital transformation, how to keep campuses secure, and how IT departments can support institutions as they go beyond the physical college campus.
Avaap presenters Leslie Oines and Julia Philyaw, Ed.D. presented “Change Management Considerations for Higher Education Digital Transformation,” which was well-attended by CIOs, CHROs and CFOs thinking about how to embrace change management as part of an overall modernization strategy. They shared the unique challenges for higher education when it comes to change and provided tips for how to navigate change with minimal disruption and maximum enthusiasm. Recognizing that higher ed has unique obstacles when it comes to change, they suggested developing a road map and leveraging the influence of the institution’s culture to aid in transformation success.
As higher education continues to look toward digital transformation to propel it into the future, coming together to collaborate and learn from organizations that are further along the transformation journey is critical for institutions to leverage best practices and lessons learned. We are grateful for the time we had face-to-face with our industry peers and look forward to sharing our experiences with higher education institutions, the transformational vision and strategy being set by Ohio leaders, and how institutions are placing students' success at the center while developing a sustainable business model.
Avaap has developed a program for Ohio-based higher education institutions to accelerate transformation with Workday and collaborate together for a common goal: to enhance the student experience for higher education success. Learn more about Avaap Accelerate here.
