Last week, more than 20,000+ human resources leaders and professionals from around the globe gathered for the 75th Annual SHRM conference in Las Vegas.  This year’s theme, Drive Change, could not be more appropriate for all of the transformations that have occurred in the workplace over the past 75 years, three years, or even the past six months (ChatGPT - we see you.)  

New ERP systems are the catalyst for growth and change but success is more than getting the technical implementation right. When Hinds Community College made the move to Workday, their chief technology officer said they would do one thing different if doing it over again: bring change management into the process earlier.

Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall realized the need to incorporate new technology throughout Salt Lake City government and in response launched the city's first innovation department in January 2021. The department's goal included implementing an integrated software system to enhance internal functions and support a culture of innovation.

The Avaap Higher Education team was thrilled to be back at the Ohio Higher Education Computing Council (OHECC) Annual Conference this year! After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, it was great to see Ohio higher education leaders in person again. This year’s conference focused on transforming for the future, with the use of technology on campus and the impact it has on student success dominating discussions.

The global Electronic Health Record (EHR) market is currently valued at $31.5 Billion and growing at 6% per year.  According to KLAS research, Epic and Cerner dominate the market with a combined 85% market share among large, 500-bed U.S. hospitals.

Epic’s annual User Group Meeting (UGM) is coming up next week, August 26-29, 2019. Whether you’re one of the 9,000 healthcare luminaries with an all-access pass to the great content available at Epic UGM 2019 or you are spending time combing the interwebs for the latest news and happenings in Verona, we wanted to take a moment to appreciate Epic Founder and CEO Judy Faulkner’s innovation and creativity in costume choices for past keynote addresses. Anyone familiar with the Epic story knows Judy is known for her groundbreaking data goals as well as her all-in commitment to UGM conference themes.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the 2019 Cerner CommunityWorks Summit in Kansas City, MO. Avaap was honored to be included as one of a few select vendors to exhibit at the summit. It was a whirlwind week full of education, networking, and happy hours hosted by Cerner. We had great conversations with hospital executives, clinicians, operations leaders, and IT liaisons about the challenges rural, community, and critical access hospitals face. At the same time of the summit, Avaap announced the Columbus Regional Health System go-live with Cerner CommunityWorks after a year-and-a-half long partnership, beginning with system selection through go-live. Seeing their journey and comparing it with stories from other sites in their same domain, whether currently implementing or live for several years, led me to a few key takeaways from the week:
